Clean, durable, easy to maintain: Cleaning Fundermax Exterior panels

Outdoors, facades are exposed to various environmental factors – such as dust, pollen, rain or emissions. Over time, these can build up on the surface.

Occasional cleaning can help to:
•    easily remove dirt
•    keep the cleaning effort to a minimum in the case of heavier deposits

Important: The functional properties of Fundermax Exterior panels remain unaffected by this.

No special cleaning agents are required for cleaning.

Note: We recommend carrying out a basic clean after installation. 

How to clean correctly:
•    warm water
•    a soft sponge or soft cloth

Rinse the surface with warm water and clean it gently with a soft sponge. Avoid using abrasive cleaning aids. Then rinse the surface with clean water.

Tip: Do not clean in direct sunlight to avoid streaking.

General instructions
•    Remove dirt as and when necessary
•    Do not allow cleaning agents to dry on the surface
•    Always rinse the surface thoroughly
•    Test cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area first

Depending on the degree of soiling, suitable cleaning agents that are compatible with the material may be used, e.g.:
•    standard, non-abrasive cleaners
•    Alcohol (e.g. methylated spirits)
•    Acetone (for spot treatment, e.g. graffiti)
Always clean using a soft sponge or cloth, without applying excessive pressure.

Limescale and water stains

Limescale deposits can occur, particularly on facades that are frequently exposed to water.

The following is recommended:
•    the use of mild, standard commercial cleaners
•    thorough rinsing with warm water
•    followed by drying the surface

Grease, oil and environmental pollution

Oil- or grease-based contamination, such as that caused by emissions, environmental factors or traffic, can be removed using suitable cleaning agents.

Important:
•    do not use strongly alkaline or aggressive cleaners
•    do not use abrasive cleaning aids

Removing graffiti from the facade

Graffiti can be effectively removed from Fundermax Exterior panels using the correct products.

Suitable cleaning agents include, for example:
•    Acetone
•    Spirits
•    Standard anti-graffiti sprays available from retailers

Procedure:
1.    Apply the cleaning agent in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
2.    Clean with a soft sponge
3.    Rinse off all traces of the cleaning agent with warm water
4.    Dry the surface with paper towels or kitchen roll

Always test cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area first.

Use of a high-pressure cleaner

A high-pressure cleaner can be used to help clean large areas of soiling, provided it is used in a manner suitable for the material:
•    sufficient distance from the surface
•    low to medium pressure
•    flat spray rather than a concentrated jet
•    even movement

Using the cleaner too close to the surface or at too high a pressure can damage the surface and should be avoided.

What to avoid

To protect the surface, the following cleaning methods should not be used:
•    Abrasive cleaners or steel wool
•    Strongly acidic or strongly alkaline cleaners
•    Steam cleaners
•    Mechanically abrasive tools
