What are the different classifications for chipboard?
The P-class designation indicates a chipboard panel’s intended application and load-bearing capacity:
- P1: Dry areas; suitable for lightweight cladding; non-load-bearing

- P3: Damp areas; non-load-bearing
- P4: Dry areas; load-bearing

P2 chipboard is the standard grade for dry indoor environments. It is non-load-bearing and well suited to furniture manufacturing and general interior finishing thanks to its stability and ease of processing. Fundermax offers P2 chipboard in the full-size variants P2 B and P2 E05. Available formats and thicknesses can be found in the delivery programme.
Tongue-and-groove flooring panels for subfloors
Flooring panels feature tongue-and-groove profiles on both the long and short edges. During installation, the panels interlock to create a continuous surface with minimal visible joints and, depending on the panel classification, load-bearing properties. This makes them particularly suitable for subfloor applications.
Homogen Module P3 and Homogen Module P5 are examples of Fundermax tongue-and-groove chipboard panels. The P3 and P5 classifications indicate that these panels are suitable for use in damp areas.

Which adhesive is suitable for raw chipboard?
White synthetic resin adhesive (PVAC) is used for installation. When applying the adhesive to the board joints, ensure that a continuous bead is formed. Excess adhesive should not ooze out.
How is chipboard disposed of?
Disposal and incineration are subject to the applicable country-specific laws and regulations. Approved waste codes according to the Waste Catalog (ÖNORM S 2100):
- 17115: Chipboard waste
- 17114: Wood sanding dust
- 57104: Cured impregnation resin
- 57128: PE waste
