Clean, durable, long-lasting: the correct way to clean Fundermax Exterior panels

Outdoors, the facade is exposed to various environmental factors on a daily basis: rain, sun, dust, pollen or emissions can accumulate on the surface over time. If this dirt is left untreated, it can become more firmly embedded and make cleaning more difficult.

Regular cleaning:
•    maintains the aesthetic quality of the facade,
•    provides long-term protection for the surface,
•    contributes to maintaining the value of the property.

No special cleaning agents are required for the regular cleaning of Fundermax Exterior panels.

How to clean correctly:
•    Warm water
•    Soft sponge or soft cloth

The surface is washed with warm water and cleaned carefully with a soft sponge. Abrasive cleaning aids should be avoided. The surface is then rinsed with clean water.

Tip: Ideally, do not clean in direct sunlight to avoid streaking.

General instructions
•    Remove dirt as soon as possible
•    Do not allow cleaning agents to dry
•    Always rinse thoroughly with warm water after cleaning
•    Always test cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area first

Depending on the degree of staining, more intensive but surface-compatible cleaning agents may also be used.

Suitable options include:
•    standard household, non-abrasive cleaners
•    alcohol (e.g. methylated spirits)
•    acetone (for specific areas, e.g. graffiti)

Always clean using a soft sponge or cloth, without applying excessive pressure.

Limescale and water stains
Limescale deposits can occur particularly on facades that are frequently exposed to water.

The following is recommended:
•    the use of mild, standard commercial cleaners
•    thorough rinsing with warm water
•    subsequent drying of the surface

Grease, oil and environmental pollutants
Oil or grease-based stains, such as those caused by emissions, environmental factors or traffic, can be removed using suitable cleaning agents.

Important:
•    do not use strongly alkaline or aggressive cleaners
•    do not use abrasive tools

Removing graffiti from the facade
Graffiti can be effectively removed from Fundermax Exterior panels using the correct products.

Suitable cleaners include, for example:
•    Acetone
•    Methylated spirits
•    Standard anti-graffiti sprays

Procedure:
1.    Apply the cleaner in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
2.    Clean with a soft sponge
3.    Rinse the cleaner off completely with warm water
4.    Dry the surface with paper towels or kitchen roll

Always test the cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first.

Use of a high-pressure cleaner
A high-pressure cleaner can be used to assist with large areas of staining, provided it is used in a manner suitable for the material:
•    sufficient distance from the surface
•    low to medium pressure
•    flat spray rather than a spot spray
•    even movement

Too little distance or too high a pressure can damage the surface and should be avoided.

What you should avoid
To protect the surface, the following cleaning methods should not be used:
•    Abrasive cleaners or steel wool
•    Strongly acidic or strongly alkaline cleaners
•    Steam cleaners
•    Mechanically abrasive tools
