Fundermax and partner companies win the bauma Innovation Award 2025
Fundermax, together with the Center Construction Robotics, RWTH Aachen University, KUKA and Jekko Cranes, has developed the MAXX – Mobile Assembly X-System. This project convinced the jury of the bauma Innovation Award, and we are very pleased to receive the award in the research category.
bauma Innovation Award: Prestigious construction industry award
The bauma Innovation Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the international construction industry and is presented every three years at bauma – the world's leading trade fair for construction, building material and mining machinery.
The MAXX- Mobile Assembly X-System, developed jointly by Fundermax, KUKA and Jekko, convinced the jury with its forward-looking and practical approach. In combination with a ventilated curtain wall made of Max Compact Exterior panels, the MAXX system offers a revolutionary solution for the energy-efficient renovation of buildings: a highly innovative plug & produce system that enables the semi-automated and scaffold-free assembly of facade elements.
MAXX-System: Revolutionary solution for energy-efficient renovation
Since 2020, Fundermax has been working intensively on developing innovative installation solutions to meet the growing challenges in the construction industry, particularly the labour shortage. In the Center Construction Robotics (CCR) at RWTH Aachen, Fundermax has finally found the ideal partner with the necessary expertise and the same goal: to make the renovation of existing buildings more efficient, safer and more sustainable.
This innovative system is unique worldwide because it uses 5G to directly coordinate a robot with a crane without relying on digital building models or complex planning processes. The KUKA robot learns directly from the renovation expert using the principle of ‘programming by example’ and then independently takes over the installation of the facade. In combination with a mobile Jekko crane and Fundermax facade panels, MAXX ensures increased safety, efficiency and sustainability in the construction industry.
The jury particularly emphasised the system's economically realistic, sustainable and flexible approach. MAXX can be adapted to different building types and, thanks to modular tools, can be used for a wide range of renovation tasks.
