rethink kitchen

Together with its partner companies Keilverbinder, Häfele, Byform and Ackermann, Fundermax presented the ‘rethink kitchen’ concept at INTERZUM 2025 in Cologne from 20 to 23 May. The plug-in kitchen system reinvents traditional construction methods and utilizes a completely new concept. The result is a piece of furniture that is modular, flexible, stylish and robust, yet quick and easy to assemble with virtually no tools.

New thinking in kitchen design

What, at first, appears to be a normal kitchen turns out, on closer inspection, to be a real design statement and a technological milestone.

With an innovative frame and connection system, Fundermax and its partner companies are revolutionising classic kitchen unit construction.
The result is a kitchen concept that impresses not only with its design and functionality, but also with a completely new type of assembly:

  • Tool-free assembly in minutes instead of hours – thanks to patented wedge connectors
  • Modular design for maximum flexibility and adaptability
  • Robust, clear design with durable materials
  • Fewer staff and shorter construction times – economical and efficient
  • No adjustments necessary – cables and lines can be easily integrated
  • 90° rotatable crossbar for flexible solutions, e.g. in the sink area
  • Easy redesign for adaptations or changing living situations

The kitchen can be assembled quickly without any mess, glue, adhesive or composite materials – and can be rearranged or expanded just as easily. This is assembly reimagined: fast, clean and sustainable.

Unlimited design freedom for modern kitchens

A new dimension in kitchen planning is unveiled by tailor-made solutions without rigid grids. Each element is individually adapted and fits seamlessly into your vision for the space.

The system showcases its high flexibility and suitability for everyday use. The kitchen can be converted to barrier-free access in just a moment, without the use of tools. This allows it to be easily adapted to different living situations.

The basis is a robust metal frame that is not only durable and resistant, but also impresses with its modern, open look. The clear design language gives the room a sense of lightness and contemporary elegance.

AI-supported planning enables a wide range of options that are precisely tailored to personal needs and individual style. The result is a kitchen that combines functionality and aesthetics at the highest level and becomes truly unique.

Sustainability that makes a difference

The kitchen concept impresses not only with its design, but also with its responsible use of resources. Compared to conventional kitchens, the plug-in system uses up to 67% less chipboard.
The materials used are single-type and therefore particularly easy to recycle.

A real highlight is the well-designed flat-pack system, which allows up to 650% more kitchens to be transported on a single truck. This means fewer trips, lower emissions and significantly less space required on the construction site – ideal for urban areas and large construction projects.

Responsibility starts with the material

Sustainability is also a key consideration when selecting materials. For example, Fundermax biofibre boards, which are made from 100 percent certified, sustainable wood, can be used for the fronts. They are manufactured using a wet fibre process, in which the natural resins of the wood are dissolved and used as a natural binding agent. This means that no petrochemical additives are required. Of course, other Fundermax products such as Max Compact Interior and Star Favorit are also ideal for stylish and functional kitchen fronts.
